As the University of Abra (UA) celebrates its first University Charter Day Anniversary, administrators, faculty, staff, and personnel, across all its campuses and students of its Main Campus gathered at the Main Campus Gymnasium last October 6, 2022.

A Thanksgiving Mass officiated by Most Rev. Leopoldo C. Jaucian, SVD, D.D. with co-celebrants, Rev. Fr. Marmolyn C. Anagaran and Rev. Fr. Mark Cloyd T. Degrano, marked the commencement of the program. Performances from the Bangued Cultural Affairs Society, College of Arts and Sciences Bangued and Main Campus, the 1st and 2nd runners up in the previously held 112th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary Chorale Competition, added vibrance to the event.

Gracing the commemoration were Guests of Honor, Representative of the Lone District of Abra, Hon. Menchie “Ching” Bernos and National President of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP), Mayor of the Municipality of La Paz, Abra, and revered Father of the University of Abra, Hon. Joseph Sto. Niño “JB” B. Bernos.

Hon. Ching Bernos delivered her message to the crowd focusing on the steadfast support of her office to the continuous development of the university to fulfill the mutual obligations to the law of the land to finally turn the College into a University.

This year’s Charter Day is historic to the institution as the University of Abra Hymn, composed by the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Noel B. Begnalen, was first sang and heard by the University community.

Before the program ends, the entire UA family greeted Hon. JB Bernos with a surprise as the University of Abra’s Charter Day coincides with the birthday of the Father of the University of Abra.
The festivity continued as everyone enjoyed their sumptuous lunch.
